Calvin Harris and Swedish DJ Alesso collaborated with English duo Hurts to bring us one of the most euphoric EDM songs of our generation. The song was able to combine the crowd pleasing euphoria that Swedish House Mafia's Don't You Worry Child and Rihanna's We Found Love both have ensuring a chorus drop that would surely make the people in the club be drugged with their faux slow motion head banging dance moves.
The vocals for me could be a bit more organic if a female lead did it. Hurts' Theo Hutchcraft wasn't really the perfect fit for what already was a perfect beat, I'd definitely go for Ella Eyre. Anyways, the song has been on repeat ever since I downloaded it.
Australia's Beyonce is back with a new super catchy and naughty single named 'Pop A Bottle (Fill Me Up)'. Technically she was back months earlier with a terrible first single from her third album BEAUTIFUL. That song quaintly titled 'To The End Of The Earth' was a mess for various reasons. It has the most annoying before-chorus-part (don't know what to call it) of all her songs which explained why it tanked on charts marking her lowest first single peak for an album. If you didn't like 'Inescapable' then you'd absolutely loathe this one. But as always, Jess always finds a way to redeem hersel. Her second single released this month was your typical Australian dose of EDM/Pop fodder but it's always different when it is sang beautifully by someone who can really sing.
PaB(FmU) is as radio-ready as Saturday Night less an annoying rapper. You can add this to your long list of weekend jam because it is soon to become your favourite. And when she performed the song on X Factor I fell in love even more, I mean she is the only singer in the world (in the world) who can sing parts of a song that aren't supposed to be sang by humans (God, I'm sounding idiotic - just watched the performance you'd know what I mean).
The song's lyrics is a complete treasure and is one of the the snarkiest double entendres in music ever. It came across as a very demure song about having fun over a bottle of beverage but everytime I listen to the lyrics carefully I go over places (you know what I mean).
Singer/Songwriter Sabi is still struggling to gain commercial success with every releases since collaborating with band, Cobra Starship. 'Wild Heart', her first single release for her never-released 'All I Want' album was too mundane to be a hit so she went all 90s and came back a year after with "Where Do They Do That At?' which was something that sounded like an Aaliyah b-side. Sabi's like Bonnie McKee, like they can be great making hits after hits but no chance of achieving their personal music endeavours because they are utterly lifeless. Well, I get it, Sabi's got cute voice nothing really special about it and with the musical path she wants to pursue we already have Wynter Gordon pacing on the same direction, who has more talent.
Now, she is back with 'Cali Love' featuring hip-flop star Tyga (Tyga did a Cali Love song four years ago). I personally like the song but there is nothing there to make me write good things about it. It's like one of those songs that'll eventually help you kill the minutes while waiting for your lunch or something like that. It has an all-Cali vibe and lyrics with cute references from Jeep to Rayban. Any chance of charting? I'd be happy to see this on Bubbling Hot 100 but other than...mmm... NO.
I am so loving this new song from the one and only POP PRINCESS Britney Spears. I don't know, but I just love it. I love the British accent thing going on and I love the fact that it's quite different from the other records she had done before. Though there are slight sameness to her previous collbaoration with will.i.am's 'Scream & Shout' there is no denying that it is much less busy. I don't agree with some reviews saying that it doesn't have any catchy or memorable hook to let you sing to it or even remember it because the whole friggin' song was hooky enough to make you wait for the song to finish before you hit replay. I am so ready for this new era of pure Britney realness.
Failing to peak atop of the UK Official Charts was pretty much the forseen situation when Tempah chose to debut his sophomore album with a mess that is Trampoline. Seriously! The only thing I liked about the song was the Nike reference and the the City-name dropping which was completely a better version of Hilltop Hood's 'I Love It'. I was a bit expecting for a 'Pass Out' kinda first single and then a 'Written in the Stars' kinda follow up but then he had an awfully awry chart result jumping throught the electro-rap (I don't know what to call it, but it's noise) bandwagon. Tempah is definitely my favourite Brit rapper and was happy for his US endeavours falling part.
Now back with Childred Of The Sun with some help from the voice behind 'Don't You Worry Child', John Martin, I really have high hopes for the song to chart well and when I say well, I mean at the top not Trampoline-top or Sugababes-top. The song could be considered as a 'Stars' rehash but then the difference is that 'Stars' has this rock-rap-hiphop-alternative vibe to it while 'Sun' is just pure pop-rap perfection.
